Remembering Who You Are

Remembering Who You Are

“The quieter you become the more you are able to hear.”

— RUMI

A Personal Reflection

As a life coach, I’ve found that true transformation happens not when people try to fix what’s wrong, but when they begin to remember what’s already whole within them. Guiding clients to see their struggles not as obstacles to overcome but as doorways back to their innate wholeness often brings deeper and more lasting change.

This is a bit of a departure from my usual writing, as it wades more deeply into the spiritual dimension of who you are. It explores what it means to experience life from being rather than doing—to see and feel yourself through the quiet lens of awareness, rather than the striving of the mind. My hope is that these humble words spark a light within you, reminding you of how extraordinary you truly are and how much power lives in your own stillness and awareness within.

Most of us spend our lives searching for meaning—looking for love, peace, or connection—without realizing that what we seek has always been within us. Awakening isn’t about reaching some higher state; it’s about remembering who you already are. Beneath the noise of your thoughts and the constant busyness of life, there’s a quiet awareness that never leaves you. This is the presence of the divine—the infinite Source breathing through all things.

When you stop striving and simply pay attention, you can begin to sense this presence. Healing, in its truest sense, is not about fixing what is broken but remembering what is whole. It’s realizing that you’re not separate from life but part of the same living field of energy that moves through everything.

Our greatest obstacles are not outside us but within—the layers of desire, fear, and attachment that keep us tied to what we think we need. These habits of the mind create resistance to what already is. Letting go doesn’t mean giving up; it means surrendering the need to control everything and allowing your internal GPS to guide you. To put it simply, when you stop resisting, you’re able to live in greater harmony with the flow of life.

The bridge between your human self and your divine essence is crossed not by thought but by experience. You don’t need to understand this truth with the mind; you need to feel it with your heart. It’s a living experience of the sacred moving within you—quiet, radiant, and alive.

In stillness, we remember. Through prayer, meditation, or simply sitting in silence, we come home to that awareness where all divisions fade. The more you rest in this space, the more you begin to realize there’s nothing to fix, nowhere to go, and nothing missing. The stillness itself is the doorway—the place where you meet life as it truly is.

We’re all connected by one vast field of energy. This awareness is what the mystics and poets have always pointed to—a state of being beyond separation. Even a brief glimpse of this truth can change how you see ourselves and the world. You begin to live more simply, love more freely, and act from clarity rather than fear.

As this awareness deepens, life itself begins to change. You’ll begin to notice synchronicities—small moments where the inner and outer worlds meet in perfect harmony. What once seemed random will begin to feel purposeful. In this state of flow, you stop “doing” life and begin being life. Your energy—your state of being—becomes the creative force that shapes your reality.

You might imagine yourself as a vessel in a vast ocean of energy. When that vessel is filled with old beliefs, fears, and expectations, it interacts with life through those filters. But when the vessel is emptied—when you release the need to control and define—you become clear and open. In that openness, you’re guided by something larger than yourself; something both intimate and infinite.

This awareness cannot be captured by words. It can only be lived. It begins the moment you stop trying to reach for it and simply allow it to arise.

Awareness is the quiet presence of life within you—the same consciousness that breathes the stars and moves the tides. When you stop identifying with the noise of the mind and rest in this stillness, something miraculous happens: the divine begins to live through you. You become a channel for light, wisdom, and love.

To awaken is not to become someone new but to return to what has always been true. It’s the gentle realization that you were never separate from Source, never incomplete, never lost. You’re the stillness behind all motion, the awareness behind all thought, the presence that simply is.

And so, how do you live this awareness? Begin by slowing down. Take a deep breath and feel the stillness beneath it. Notice the quiet space that holds every sound, every thought, every heartbeat. Next time you catch yourself acting out of habit, pause for a moment. In that space arises your awareness. Rather than reacting to life, you begin to live your life more consciously.

You don’t need to seek anything—only to remember. As you rest in awareness, you begin to see that the divine has always been here, waiting not to be found, but to be recognized. In that recognition, you’ll discover a peace within that cannot be lost because that light that has always been shining through you.

Yes – you are an extraordinary being!
