Is Your Heart Open?

Is Your Heart Open?

(Part 1 of 3)

Have you ever paused to ask yourself—Is my heart truly open?

It’s a powerful question. And the answer quietly shapes the way you experience love, relationships, creativity, spiritual connection—even your capacity for joy and fulfillment.

Yet many of us move through life with hearts more guarded than we realize.

A closed heart isn’t always obvious. It doesn’t always look like coldness or detachment. Often, it wears subtler disguises—busyness, skepticism, emotional withdrawal, excessive independence. It may appear in our relationships as reluctance, avoidance, or a subtle fear of being seen too deeply.

You might wonder…

How Do I Know if My Heart is Closed?

  • Do you find it hard to trust others, even when they haven’t given you any reason not to?
  • Do you avoid deep emotional conversations, or struggle to express how you really feel?
  • Have you built protective walls around your heart after being hurt—only to find they keep everything, including love, at a distance?
  • Do you see tenderness, longing, or intimacy as signs of weakness?
  • Do you sometimes feel numb, disconnected, or like something essential is missing—even when life looks “fine” on the surface?

If any of this resonates, take heart: it doesn’t mean something is wrong with you. It means you’ve been human in a world that often teaches us to guard what is most precious—our vulnerability, our openness, our capacity to love freely.

Sometimes protecting your heart is wise but if closed for too long, it can cost you the very things you crave: deeper connections, emotional freedom and a sense of being fully alive.

An Invitation to Open Your Heart More

The beautiful truth is this: No matter how long your heart has been closed, it can open again. And when it does, something shifts. Life becomes more vibrant. Love feels more authentic. And, you’ll feel more like yourself.

Over the next two blogs we’ll…

  • Explore the Barriers– What causes you to close your heart, and how can you begin to dissolve those defenses?
  • Living with an Open Heart– How do you reopen your heart wisely, safely, and at a pace that honors your healing? How does it transform everything from your relationships to your sense of purpose?

This journey is not about being so open that you lose your discernment. It’s about reclaiming the most vital, wholehearted version of yourself—the one that longs to give and receive love freely, without fear running the show.

Questions to Reflect On

  • What would my life feel like if I lived with a more open heart?
  • Where am I still holding back love, trust, or emotional presence?

Take a few quiet moments right now. Breathe slowly. Place a hand over your heart. Do not try to “fix” anything—just be present.

In the next blog, we’ll explore some of the hidden barriers may be keeping you guarded—some of which may surprise you.
